Sub-family Cochlostomatinae
Cochlostoma obscurum(Draparnaud,1801) Shell:cone-shaped with 8.5 whorls which are not sharply rounded,10-14 mm high x 4-5.5 mm wide.Regularly ribbed circa 8-9 per mm. Greyish to reddish-brown with 2 rows of darker spots. Habitat:Rocks and rubbly slopes,woods. Area:Central- and South-France.
Cochlostoma apricum(Mousson,1847) Shell:similar to C.obscurum but smaller: 7-10 mm high x 3-4.5 mm wide with 8 whorls. Fine and regularly ribbed circa 9-10 per mm. Thin and a little translucent,light yellowish brown with darker reddish-brown spots. Often forming 2 spiral bands on the body whorl. Habitat:Rocks and rubbly slopes,woods. Area:South-East France.
Cochlostoma septemspirale(Razoumowsky,1789)
Shell:cone-shaped with 8.5 whorls,separated by a deep suture.7-8 mm high x 3.8 mm wide,aperture round with a thick white lip.
With regular sharp ribs.
Greyish to reddish brown with rows of dark spots.
Habitat:rocks,rubbly slopes,walls and woods.Up to 2000 mtrs in
Switzerland.
Area:Central- and South-Europe.
Cochlostoma patulum(Draparnaud,1801)
Shell:cone-shaped with 7.5-9 whorls,aperture round with a folded
back lip.5-8 mm high x 2-3 mm wide,reddish to pale grey,ribbed.
Habitat:rocks,dry grasslands and old walls.
Area:South-France.
Sub-family Diplommatinae Diplommatina auriculata Shell very small,thin,white or pale orange,surface dull with oblique radial ribs. There are 3 longitudinal teeth,a parietal,palatal and high columella tooth,peristoma white to orange. Shell size:3.5-4 mm high,1.5-2 mm wide,7.5-8 whorls. On Bali and Java in forests on limestone and volcanic soil in leaflitter. Till 2400 mtrs altitude.
Diplommatina cyclostoma(Moellendorf,1897) Shell very small,thin,white,lemon-yellow or pale orange with a silky gloss and oblique radial ribbing.There are 3 longitudinal teeth,a parietal,palatal and high columella tooth. Shell size:1.3-1.4 mm wide,2.3-3.1 mm high,5-6.5 whorls. On Bali,Java,and Madura on limestone and volcanic soil in leaf litter and on plants. Till 2900 mtrs alt.
Diplommatina diplostoma(Rensch,1931) Shell very small,thin,white or pale orange,with oblique radial ribs. There are 4 longitudinal and 2 parietal teeth,1 palatal and 1 columellar tooth. Periostoma whitish. Shell size:3.7 -4.5 mm high,2.0-2.6 mm wide,5-6.5 whorls. On Bali and Java on limestone and volcanic soil in leaflitter. Till 1800 mtrs alt.
Diplommatina fluminis Shell very small,thin and translucent,whitish,glossy with slight oblique radial ribs. With 2 longitudinal teeth, a parietal and a columellar tooth. Shell size:2.4-2.9 mm high,1-1.3 mm wide,4-5.5 mm whorls. On Bali,Nusa Penida and Sumba in forests and disturbed areas on limestone soil in leaflitter.
Diplommatina nevilli(Crosse,1879) Shell very small,thin,white to pale orange with a sulky gloss,the radial ribs are almost parallel to the axis of the shell. Three longitudinal teeth,a parietal,palatal and columellar tooth. The periostome is whitish. Shell size:1.2-1.3 mm wide,6.5-6.75 whorls. On Bali,Java and Malaysia in forests on limestone and volcanic soil in leaflitter and plants.
Diplommatina javana Shell very small,sinistral,thin,surface glossy,oblique radial ribs. Two longitudinal teeth,a parietal and a columellar tooth. Shell size:2.5-3.2 mm high,1.5-1.9 mm wide,4-5.25 whorls. On Bali,Java and Flores in forests on volcanic soil in leaf litter. 500-2700 mtrs. alt.
